11 million recovered in 2023 (+8% on 2022)

“We are moving – states a press release from the Municipality – towards the approval of the Final Account referring to 2023. The data confirm the Municipality’s important spending capacity and a positive collection capacity, also thanks to the fight against tax evasion which reaches reach 11 million euros, marking +8% compared to 2022. The final balance, which takes into account the difference between what was estimated in the budget forecast and what the Administration actually collected and spent, highlights the effort made to follow up on quality and quantity of services provided, which amount to 215 million euros”.

“At the same time – continues the press release -, the Administration was able to integrate the risk fund by approximately 4 million, bringing it to a total of 11 million. Despite this, the administration produced a free surplus of 13 million, also thanks to the excellent work on debt collection, which went from 76.2% in 2022 to 78% in 2023.

“On the spending front – states the press release – the sector that contributed the most was that of Welfare where 65.5 million euros were spent to follow up on activities involving the elderly, adults in social hardship, minors and disabled people. 2023 was a very significant year also with regards to public works which saw construction sites started for 49.2 million euros, of which 9.9 through new mortgages. 2023 was the year in which the first PNRR construction sites began , in compliance with the times established by the national plan. The increase in interest rates which weighed on the municipal coffers by 2.9 million euros compared to the 2022 figure which amounted to 1.9 million also had an impact on the institution’s coffers. .

“With regards – the press release continues – Educational Services, the Administration has invested 44.8 million euros to follow up on the services of nursery schools and nursery schools, to which are added important investments in school buildings. Also the Culture has been the subject of important investments with costs amounting to 11.4 million euros, including the main activities implemented such as exhibitions, concerts and performances”.

“For sport and youth policies – continues the press release – 5.1 million euros were spent which mainly concerned the promotion of sport at various levels and disciplines and the support of the various associations involved in this area and the activities in the centers young people, in addition to the precious work of building the Parma European Youth Capital 2027 project”.

Satisfaction was expressed by the Budget Councilor, Marco Bosi, who commented on the economic framework of the institution’s accounting document as follows: “This budget represents the excellent ability of the Municipality of Parma to maintain the quantity and quality of services despite the weight of inflation and interest rates. It makes me particularly proud that this result is not the result of an increase in local taxes, but of the ability to collect one’s credits and of serious work to combat tax evasion”.
