Here, while we’re on the topic: Marc Marquez. My impression is that his recovery is complete and that he is almost what he was before the accident in 2020. At eighty-five, ninety percent he is there and he can still grow, because now he is taking measurements of his new motorbike and he can already fight for the races and the title. But we already knew that his limit is greed: he is in a hurry and wants to win big, this pushes him to make too many mistakes.
Here you go, Ducati. Only I saw a bit of embarrassment on the faces in the pits when 2023 number 93 was leading the race…? The reality is that everyone was surprised by the difficulties that the 2024 encountered on the American circuit, even the drivers seemed taken aback. From the winter tests and then from the first two races of the year it was clear that the new version of the Desmosedici was born very well, ready to win without the need for all those complex refinements that the two previous editions had required. Now the cold shower: braking problems, chattering and who knows what else in the search for the ideal setting all four drivers were penalized and especially Pecco Bagnaia, who rightly moans.
And I finally come toAprilia. It’s a beauty to finally see Vinales on the ball and confident. There is no question about Maverick’s talent, while his ability to make it work consistently has always been doubted. Massimo Rivola believed in it strongly, now is the key moment and many are counting on it with their fingers crossed. I admit that I enjoyed watching the television and the rapt expression of Romano Albesiano on the podium really moved me. Aprilia deserves all this and even more.
I am Ducati’s difficulties in giving wings to Aprilia and KTM? It will probably already be in Jerez, at the end of the month, that we will understand more. Meanwhile, talents are emerging, the races are good, overtaking is back: in short, it’s mouth-watering.
