The measures decided in the prefecture in the coordination meeting of the police forces
An in-depth and targeted analysis of the security situation in the metropolitan area of Florence, in light of the recent terrorist events that occurred in Moscow, was carried out yesterday during the coordination meeting of the Police Forces in the Prefecture, according to the directives issued by the Ministry of the Interior.
During the meeting it emerged that at the moment there have been no signs of possible critical issues either in the Florentine capital or in the province. The discussion then focused on identifying the measures necessary to guarantee the peaceful carrying out of the Easter rites and public holidays which see Florence as a tourist destination for millions of visitors.
Following the meeting, the intensification of territorial control and surveillance services at sensitive objectives was ordered. Among these, the Florence airport, the Santa Maria Novella railway station, in respect of which the increase in the presence of “Strade Safe” soldiers has been confirmed starting from April 5th.
For the railway station – specifies the note from the prefecture – alongside the numbers of soldiers already operating inside the station with the coordination of the railway police, further patrols will be added, which, according to the directives given by the Minister of the Interior, will be employed, together with the State Police personnel, in the areas adjacent to the Station, recently the subject of particular attention in the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security and recipient of targeted services.
