Region, at the 1st recount Blasi becomes the 2nd of the non-elected. Fanelli could run for mayor, leaving his place in the Chamber. Power, immaturity of city councilors destroys advantage. Rome takes the reins of the game
The heart of the political discussion has moved from regional elections to municipal ones. The discussion on the center-right mayoral candidate always takes center stage after the ambush that the conspirators of the City Council carried out against Guarente, contradicting the line dictated by Meloni, Tajani and Salvini. The mayor continues to take his time to decide, leaving a window of possibility towards ongoing change. To date, however, the news we have is that (rightly) Mario Guarente has no intention of contradicting the provisions of the national leaders and intends to run. Once the human disappointment at the pettiness of those who stabbed him in the back has been overcome, Mario Guarente would be willing to run for an encore, perhaps expanding the coalition beyond the confines of the classic center-right as happened in the Region.
FANELLI HYPOTHESIS
The news of today, however, comes precisely from the League. Since the recount, in fact, Gianmarco Blasi has become second of the non-elected behind Pepe and Fanelli. An innovation of no small importance because it would allow, if Guarente abdicated, Fanelli to be nominated for the position of First Citizen and let Blasi enter the Regional Council. A hypothesis that could tickle – and not a little – the Lucanian Northern League leaders who could kill two birds with one stone without losing one of their own men at the helm of the city.
EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE OF THE LEGHISTA
At the end of the games – therefore – in the event that Guarente were to give up, the match could and should be resolved entirely by the Northern League who would not lose any position, being able – on the contrary – to attribute the weight of the eventual defeat to the tantrums of the allies and also show a maturity and advance a credit line towards the coalition. It remains to be understood who inspired the municipal councilors of Fratello d’Italia, Forza Italia and Noi Moderati to carry out a lose-lose maneuver in which they have nothing to gain and everything to lose and in which they demonstrated immaturity and lack of Party discipline contradicting the decisions of the Roman leaders.
THE CENTER-RIGHT IN CHAOS
For the first time local leaders have claimed to have their say on a candidacy and for the first time the centre-right is in chaos without any apparent positive solution. The quality gap that exists between the national and local ruling class is evident with the latter proving, above all, in Potenza incapable not only of building and dictating a political line but also of understanding the times in which to move. A difference that the center-right will pay in the local elections with this harmful and useless waste of time that favors the comeback of the center-left. The hope is that someone from Rome will take over the decision making and bring the Bounty mutineers back down to earth. We are not fans or enthusiasts of Guarente, but it is appropriate for everyone to remember that – if mistakes have been made – they are collective mistakes from which no one can be saved and that the escape from responsibility a few weeks before the vote is simply an act of cowardice. The lists will be presented in a few days, the center-right of Potenza has burned the advantage it had gained with the victory in the regional elections, the candle is consumed and the procession does not proceed.
