Road accident in the early morning of May 9th on the A21 motorway towards Brescia, the circumstances are still being examined by the police, but unfortunately there was one death and other minor injuries, intoxicated by the load of the heavy vehicle involved in the collision.
A truck carrying drums of dangerous goods overturned inside the Nure Sud service area, just before 7.30 am, near the Piacenza toll booth. According to an initial reconstruction, the heavy vehicle, loaded with paracetic acid, once entered the junction collided with another vehicle with three people on board.
The driver of the truck died instantly, while the three were intoxicated and were transported to Piacenza hospital together with four other people who had helped them get out of the passenger compartment. Seven people were intoxicated in total, none in danger of their lives. 118 vehicles, the air ambulance and the fire brigade teams were on site.
The 118 medics arrived on site with the air ambulance from Parma and two teams of the Piacenza fire brigade to provide aid to the driver stuck in the heavy vehicle and to make the transported load safe. There was nothing that could be done for the driver, two other people were transported to Piacenza hospital, while five others suffered minor injuries.
Safety operations are underway, traffic slowed down near the accident. The service area was closed by the Cremona traffic police
