The Meucci Institute of Carpi, together with the Guarini Institute of Modena, the Don Milani Institute of Carpi, the Raisini Nursery School of Modena and the Levi Institute of Vignola, hosted the meetings of the Edustrada 2024 initiative promoted by ‘Automobile Club of Modena to spread the culture of road safety in schools. This year’s edition was a great success, with various topics addressed with the students, including “Vehicle and road safety”, “safe walking”, “the effects of distracted driving” and “the weak road users”. “ACI Modena has always been close – he states Pietro Carlo Ferrariovice-president of ACI – is sensitive to the needs of younger people and promotes initiatives, in agreement with educational institutions, aimed at greater knowledge of the Highway Code and regulations in general, at greater awareness of the risk due to the circulation of vehicles, to the promotion of the “Road Safety Culture” and the prevention of road accidents in young people/adolescents”.

“Since 2017 the Institute of Higher Education. Meucci has collaborated with ACI of Modena – he explains in turn Catherine Frisco, teacher of Law and Economics in the Carpi school – for the creation of training courses on road safety, progressively involving all age groups of students: from initial to fifth grades. Also this year our kids met with two experts on the subject: the lawyer Pietro Ferrario and the instructor and trainer Marco Carnevali“. The first met the final classes and reported on the effects of distracted driving and the use of alcohol and drugs related to driving; the second dealt with the topic of safety for the most vulnerable road users: pedestrians and cyclists , with references to micromobility and the correct behavior of passengers in cars.

The students – the organizers assure – participated with interest. These are some comments collected at the end of the event: “Really useful!” (Alice 1F); “Sometimes we even take crossing the street for granted” (Sofia 1F); “It is essential for everyone’s safety to know the rules and risks of road traffic” (Gaetano 1C); “After the project I pay more attention…” (Mia 1B); “Raising awareness in schools helps avoid dangers” (Chris 2B); “I’ve been thinking about how dangerous it can be to get distracted… These projects are so useful!” (Antea 5A); “What we don’t value can make a difference: very interesting!” (Francis 4T)”.
