New tourist boom during Easter for Naples and Campania. The estimates from the Confesercenti Campania study center speak clearly. In the area 266 thousand tourists are expectedfor a total turnover of 92 million euros. The filling percentage of the 12,000 accommodation facilities (2,200 hotel, 10,000 non-hotel) is 89%, a figure that is also growing with last minute deals. The turnover from overnight stays is approximately 48 million, which rises to 92 million through related activities.
It is estimated that the 266 thousand tourists expected in our region will in fact spend on bars, restaurants, services, commerce, clothing and footwear shops, private transport, guides, etc… approximately 44 million euros. «Naples and Campania will still be protagonists of tourism at Easter 2024. It is confirmed – he comments Vincenzo Schiavo, president of Confesercenti Campania and national vice-president with responsibility for the South – a great desire to experience our beauties, to visit our territory, to enjoy our scenic wonders and to take advantage of the gastronomy of Campania which confirms itself as a great attractor. But above all, Campania is interested in the beauty given by our thousand-year history. Our region once again ranks among the top regions in Italy for the filling of hotel and non-hotel facilities” he explained.
«Naples is bursting with tourists. Tourism here has reached the outskirts. In fact, we record staggering occupancy percentages even in accommodation facilities in areas as far away as 15 kilometers from the city centre. It is important to underline – continues Schiavo – also how Campania will record a significant filling, of 89%, of the 12 thousand accommodation facilities. The tourism boom also brings a significant indirect impact from which widespread commercial activities will therefore benefit.”
The data from Naples for three nights and four days are, in fact, important: around 174 thousand tourists expected, with a turnover estimated by the Confesercenti Campania research center of 62.9 million euros. For Easter 2024, the percentage of accommodation facilities (around 8,500, including 1,250 hotel businesses and around 7,300 non-hotel businesses) on average stands at 93%. The average expense for overnight stays is 60 euros per night per person, for a total of 31.4 million euros in estimated revenue. To this must be added the related activities, i.e. the expenditure ensured by the tourist (on average 60 euros per capita) which stands at another 31.4 million euros.
«Naples – explains Vincenzo Schiavo – it always plays a tourist driving role and remains one of the favorite destinations in Italy, since it is in the top positions in the national ranking of tourist presences during the Easter holidays. Even the other provinces of Campania, Salerno, Caserta, Avellino and Benevento are now major tourist hubs: we must ensure that tourists from Naples also visit the other cities of our region and vice versa.” However, yet another tourist boom should not be wasted and passively welcomed. For President Schiavo there is still a lot to do to be able to welcome and manage tourist flows of these proportions in the right way.
