FANO The centre-right has already shown itself to be “inadequate since the electoral campaign”. Councilor Etienn Lucarelli of the Noi Civiche list intervenes to defend her and councilor Barbara Brunori’s actions from criticism of the tourism policy in Fano: late promotion of summer events and too many construction sites still open at the dawn of the bathing season.
The sorrow
The intervention counters the attack of Fano Cambia Passo, the list of mayoral candidate Luca Serfilippi, but also harshly responds to the complaints of the Consortium Alberghi coop. Its president, Luciano Cecchini, is in fact reproached for supporting “the electoral campaign of the centre-right: a disappointment”. The centre-right opposition, therefore. «The statement regarding the lack of promotion of events and tourist hospitality was bizarre. Certain behaviors only show stale instrumental criticism, which never goes into detail with concrete alternative proposals. A policy made of slogans that identifies only with the opposition and which will not contribute at all to changing Fano.”
Given these premises, Noi Civiche claims that «in recent years the administration has managed to bring in 340 million euros of public works which will make Fano more beautiful and welcoming. It is clear that, to achieve them, it is necessary to open construction sites that bring possible temporary and inevitable inconvenience. This is the case throughout Italy, since the deadlines are dictated by ministerial funds which leave little to political choices and which have caused problems in the entire country system. When national and international events have such an impact, only together can paths and solutions be found, criticism is useless and inadequate. Is nothing better than just 10 years ago? Is it perhaps better to lose the available funds, knowing that they will have to be repaid by our children? Do we want to continue telling fantasies during the electoral campaign and then disappoint citizens’ expectations? Just look at what has been said by the centre-right in the field of healthcare and what is happening instead. We need responsibility, foresight and seriousness even in the electoral campaign.”
«We need dedicated staff»
Councilor Lucarelli insists: «Tourism by its nature does not suffer from the presence of construction sites, but requires key services tailored to the needs of the tourist himself. In April we travel for outdoor, cultural and gastronomic tourism, certainly not seaside tourism. This is why the VisitCard, the openings of archaeological excavations, the important exhibitions as in the case of Perugino, the 0 mile gastronomic proposals, the valorisation of the maritime tradition, the relationships with the inland villages have been included in the projects of the current administration , bike and trekking routes. We have opened relationships with the main sports clubs to bring quality tournaments and events to Fano, which bring important attendances from the off-season. They are projects, it’s not the case.”
«Let’s send tourists elsewhere»
Having reeled off a long list of collaborations and initiatives implemented by the local authority to promote the city, Lucarelli returns to criticize the president of the hoteliers: «I would expect a job to increase the services in the structures, perhaps working together on bike hotels, family hotels and new openings, given that we now have to send people to sleep elsewhere during volleyball tournaments, during Carnival and often throughout the month of August.”
