The Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano signed five decrees regarding the “Major Cultural Heritage Projects” Strategic Plan.

An allocation of approximately 47 million euros is expected for Campania.

The Corriere del Mezzogiorno rightly and positively comments on the news and goes into great length to mention some of the initiatives financed by the Ministry of Culture, concerning Campania. Among these we talk about the Palazzo del Monte della Pietà, the National Museum of Books and Literature at Palazzo Fuga, the Napoli Archeolab at the Stella Polare, in Forio d’Ischia the restoration of Villa La Colombaia, in Caivano the creation of the New Polo della Culture, in Positano for the excavation and valorisation of the Roman Villa and the Archaeological Museum, in Benevento for the adaptation of the Sannio Museum, and in Sant’Agata dei Goti for the recovery of the Ecclesial Compendium of the Historic Centre.

I hope this is only a partial list. If this were not the case, I would find the absence of any initiative regarding the city of Salerno significantly inexplicable. Perhaps the Ministry of Culture is unaware that in Salerno too there are important cultural assets worthy of being redeveloped and valorised? Or does a form of disinterest persist in the city on the part of those responsible for the sector, who are not sufficiently attentive to certain needs and therefore reluctant to present initiatives and requests for funding in favor of Salerno’s artistic and cultural heritage with due incisiveness?
