The harvest of the Wild Mussels of Marina di Ravenna started auspiciously with the dives of the underwater mussels of the two local fishermen’s cooperatives and the quality is excellent. In the midst of the mussel harvest, which grows spontaneously in the open sea at the base of the platforms in the Adriatic, comes the Mussel Festival of Marina di Ravenna which opens on Friday 28 June and continues on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June in Molo Dalmazia, in the Pescherecci Basin, with the purpose own to promote this excellent local product And support the muzzari who continue to practice this tough sea profession with passion.

The Cozza Selvaggia from Marina di Ravenna is one of the most prized in Italy. The supply chain of this identifying product of our sea is important for economic, tourist, gastronomic and environmental purposes. The festival is held with the collaboration of the cozzari cooperatives who collect mussels and local restaurants – from the Ravenna beaches to the city of Ravenna – who include Wild Mussels from Marina di Ravenna in their menus. Large-scale retail trade and various fishmongers also join the project, making the Wild Mussels from Marina di Ravenna available on their fish stalls.
The center of the event in the three days of the festival he is represented byarea of the fishing basin – between Molo Dalmazia and the former Fish Market – in Marina di Ravenna where they will be held meetings, book presentations and cooking shows and where some stands will offer the public Wild Mussels. Another highlight on the program is a sea excursion with boats on Saturday 29th at 10am, in collaboration with Eni. Guided tour with approach to a platform and demonstration of mussel harvesting with underwater fishermen.
The party also hosts a valuable initiative by fundraiser for charitable purposes in memory of Loris Barberini, a true cozzaro fisherman from Marina di Ravenna. The funds raised by family and friends will be used to purchase a defibrillator which will be placed in the fish market area.
