ANCONA Alarm on trains, incidents of aggression against staff continue. The latest case broke out along the Adriatic line in the stretch between Ancona and Fermo where, in the end, the protagonist of the episode got off the train and was reported on the loose. The provision is from the Polfer of the Doric capital: it concerns a 41-year-old Italian who ended up in trouble for threatening a public official on board the train on which he was travelling.

The reconstruction

It all started with a report received at the compartmental operations room for a request for intervention on board the regional train headed to Pescara due to the presence of a couple who got on at the Ancona station without having a ticket. When asked by the train conductor to give his personal details to increase the fine and continue the journey to Pescara, where they were headed, the man provided only his own details, but categorically refused to also give those of the woman accompanying him. The train conductor tried to explain that to continue the journey together, it was necessary to have both of their documents available, otherwise he would have had no alternative: he would have been forced to let them off. But at that point the man suddenly got up and started yelling at the train conductor, threatening him and forcing him, given the poor flow, to leave the two and go into another car to then block the intercommunicating doors, which in the in the meantime they were punched and kicked by the man, who was increasingly agitated.

At the same time the train conductor contacted the compartment operations room to request the intervention of the police. The episode took place in the Fermo section of the journey, until the two subjects, at the first station after Porto San Giorgio, Pedaso, decided to get off. But here a police patrol was waiting for them and tracked down and identified the strange couple. Then Polfer’s complaint.

The past

Just the day before another attack had occurred against a conductor in a train stopped at the Porto San Giorgio station, with the woman even forced to get off the train to find refuge in the station bar. As regards the last case, there remains dismay at the attitude of the couple who, in the end, came across the control of the police. The unions that protect the category are once again asking for greater safety for staff.
