There are over a hundred members of the Young Democrats in Friuli Venezia Giulia and today in Udine they elected the new regional secretary. Ferdinando Santoro, a law student from Cividale in 1999, leaves the position of provincial secretary of the Friulian GD to lead the youth organization of the Dems in the region for the next four years.
“We are happy and proud of the congress held today which – declared Santoro – constitutes a new stage in the process of relaunching the youth organization started two years ago in the province of Udine. The initiatives organized in the area such as those on mental health and the role of counseling centers have brought numerous new members and members closer to politics, some of whom are already protagonists of a direct commitment in local administrations”. “We want to be a point of reference – specified the new secretary – to bring the debate and our proposals on social justice, the defense of public services and the promotion of civil rights to schools, universities and all places of aggregation. We will do this by collaborating with the Democratic Party and above all by building relationships with a wide network of associations.”
The regional secretary of the PD Caterina Conti, who participated in the congress, wished “good work to Santoro and to all the GDs in the region” and explained that “the autonomy of the GDs from the party is an advantage to be carefully preserved because they bring democratic field a special enthusiasm and a specific vision of the world”. Among the battles to engage in, Conti indicated “good work, quality education, environmental protection, citizenship for all young people who live in our country and accessible health”.
