The people of Vicenza will spend over 15 million euros to set Easter tables, which in over nine cases out of ten they have chosen to spend at home, their own but also that of relatives and friends. This is the estimate of Coldiretti Vicenza, from which emerges a return to conviviality also to forget the worries linked to the war and the continuing high prices which have not spared any sector. Spending is substantially in line with the trend of previous years, with a clear preference for traditional menus.

The Easter table. “There are six people on average at each table – explains Coldiretti Vicenza – while preparing the Easter lunch will take around 2.1 hours in the kitchen, according to estimates. The most representative food of the Easter tradition for the majority of consumers will be lamb and kid meat, which will be served in almost half of the tables (44%), in homes, in restaurants and in farmhouses. For dessert, however, the dove beat chocolate eggs, even if more than four families out of 10 (42%) will resort to DIY, preparing typical Easter desserts at home”.

Real eggs win every challenge. Chocolate eggs, therefore, give way to the dove, but the real ones remain the protagonists of Easter, also driven by the latest studies that recognize them as a healthy, balanced and “fat-cutting” food, suitable for weight control. The people of Vicenza, according to estimates by Coldiretti Vicenza, will consume over 4.5 million eggs at Easter, for a cost of around 1.7 million euros, thanks to a production almost entirely made in Italy. “With Easter star eggs it becomes increasingly important – underlines Coldiretti Vicenza – to guarantee transparency and know the information in the alphanumeric code applied on the shell regarding the origin of the egg and the breeding methods adopted. The first number allows us to trace the type of breeding (0 for organic, 1 outdoors, 2 on the ground, 3 in cages), the second acronym indicates the country in which it was placed (e.g. IT), followed by the relevant indications to the Istat code of the Municipality, to the abbreviation of the Province and, finally, the distinctive code of the breeder. To this information is added that relating to the different categories (A and B depending on whether they are for human or industrial consumption) to indicate the level of quality and freshness and the different classifications based on weight (XL, L, M, S)”.

Vicentines travelling. One in four Vicenza residents chose to travel over the Easter weekend to reach relatives and friends, go on holiday or take a day trip. This is what emerges from an analysis promoted by Coldiretti, which highlights the desire to escape, despite the sudden return of cold and rain, as well as concerns about the war in Ukraine. “The favorite destinations – concludes Coldiretti Vicenza – remain those along the Peninsula, which allow you to optimize the limited time available, with almost all holidaymakers choosing a national destination. Agritourisms are very popular, where according to Campagna Amica Terranostra there will be over seven thousand people from Vicenza, driven by the desire to be outdoors, in search of good food”.
