PORDENONE – For everyone he was “Leo”. No name, no surname. Leo and that’s it. Andrea Leonarduzzi at the registry office, but it was just a “detail”. And Leo has been gone for two days. He died at 39, damn early. Last May 25th he felt ill during a lunch with friends in San Vito al Tagliamento, where he lived with his partner. The diagnosis, immediately terrible: cerebral hemorrhage. His condition is very serious. From that day on he never came out of the coma and some clinical complications were fatal. His heart stopped beating on Friday, leaving many friends heartbroken. An employee of the Sangiacomo company in Cecchini di Pasiano, Leonarduzzi was also a passionate bass player.

THE DRAMA

A lunch with friends, pure normality. Last May 25, the 39-year-old from San Vito al Tagliamento was calm. He was apparently fine. He laughed and joked with the people around him. Then the sudden darkness. The illness strikes him without warning. And he falls to the ground, unconscious. It was precisely the friends who were with him at lunch who immediately called the single emergency number 112. Leonarduzzi’s condition immediately seemed very serious. The symptoms are the classic ones of cerebral hemorrhage and time in these cases is crucial, very important. The 39-year-old was urgently transferred to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, a healthcare facility equipped with one of the best neurosurgery departments in the whole country. Hours of anguish begin that day, which then become weeks. Andrea Leonarduzzi’s heart never stops beating, keeping the hope of his family and friends alive. The damage reported after the serious illness, however, is already too serious. Last week the fever also rises, complications arise which worsen a previously compromised clinical picture. And on Friday the heart of “Leo” also leaves this earth, after almost a month of agony in the intensive care unit of the Udine hospital.

THE PROFILE

Andrea Leonarduzzi has always been a true San Vito native. From his youth in Via del Progresso, to the house where he now lived with his girlfriend. Always in San Vito. Many friends, company, a lively look that you recognized in a few seconds. As a young man, he had a great passion for engines. It was difficult, in the early 2000s, to spend an evening in the square in San Vito without seeing him pass by on his scooter with the latest muffler available on the market. «Leo is coming», because you could already hear it from a distance. And then his other great passion, that of music. His instrument was the bass. He had also played in some groups and only recently had he put the instrument virtually in storage. For some time he had been working in the furniture sector in Cecchini di Pasiano, for the Sangiacomo company. And even colleagues are now rallying around Leonarduzzi’s family.

PAIN

The news spread quickly in San Vito and beyond. «Our friend Leo has left us. The whole Cral community – we read in a message posted on the Facebook profile – is dismayed, the pain prevents us from formulating complex thoughts: we grew up with him, we laughed, we played a lot together and even had a few beers. We’re taking a few days off, on Monday (today, ed.) we won’t see each other for the match: we’ll be close to the family so that our pain, together, will be less bitter. Bye Leo, we will miss you as we miss a friend, a brother, a traveling companion.”
The final farewell to 39-year-old Andrea Leonarduzzi can be given today at 5.30 pm in the Eredi Querin Funeral Home, in via Savorgnano 26/4, in San Vito al Tagliamento. The body will be cremated.
