It’s official now. Kevin Costner will not return to star in the final episodes of the fifth season of Yellowstone. A painful decision, now definitively confirmed during the promotional tour of Horizonthe first film in the saga that Costner wrote, directed, produced and starred in.
The first chapter is coming to our theaters next 4th Julywhile the second is expected for August 15th. And if the actor is already on set filming the third step of this grandiose journey to America Wild West at the time of Civil Warregarding the series streaming on Paramount+, he believes it is now time to put it aside the dramas and look to the future.
«This was a necessary decision and now it’s time to stop talking about it and move on – said Kevin Costner – I gave everything I could to this project for 5 seasons. I was really happy to do it and I don’t need drama. So let’s put all speculation aside. The fans have been too good to me and I feel an obligation towards them to do things that have meaning. I owe them the best film I can make. If I were to decide to stop making films it would only be a private matter. But if I decide to make films instead, the fans are there to support me. I think it’s important to take them in directions they didn’t even think were possible. I make films for people. Horizon isn’t even my film anymore, now it belongs to the fans who have given me their support” concludes the actor.
Kevin Costner also chose to confirm his farewell to the fifth season of Yellowstone through a video published on his official Instagram account.
«For the last year and a half I have been working on Horizon and doing everything necessary for Yellowstone, the series that I love and that I know you love. I just realized that I won’t be able to continue with the final episodes of season five. But this series really changed me. And knowing how much you love her, I just wanted to tell you that I won’t be coming back.” declared the actor, addressing the fans directly.
