A strange couple, the one that Food Network has chosen to host the new program Locande del Cuore: curious to see the first episode.

The authors of Food Network they pull a new program out of the hat every minute, for one of the densest schedules ever seen. The next premiere is Locande del Cuore with Roberto Valbuzzi, chef from Varese, patron of Crotto Valtellina and historic face of the canal thanks to Courtesies for Guests. The episodes will be dedicated to characteristic Italian inns (neither restaurant nor trattoria), those with a “story to tell” that concerns food, people, or both.

Chef Valbuzzi will not be alone – given that the pair of presenters is very popular, if they cover two different roles – but he will host together with a gossip journalist. Locande del Cuore will start on channel 33 from Tuesday 18 June to 10pm, to discover “magical places that warm the heart, iconic of our culture”.

Valbuzzi to present together with Who?

We have few details of the show: the trailer on the network’s official channels tells of an all-Italian journey to discover characteristic inns. All seasoned with heart-wrenching emotional stories, as well as good food – obviously. The selection criteria are not known, how many inns will be visited per episode, whether there will be challenges or other people involved. Locande del Cuore presents itself as a mix between Food Advisor by Simone Rugiati (but less bubbly and more didactic) and Camionisti in Trattoria (but more elegant and bon ton).

We wouldn’t be particularly intrigued if it weren’t for one detail. That is, the co-host next to Roberto Valbuzzi: it’s about the director of Chi Massimo Borgnis. Alfonso Signorini’s successor seems to have fallen from the sky onto a set very far from “home”, i.e. gossip and sport… what is he doing on a TV show? And why in a cooking show? Will there be gossip, or will he simply act as an ordinary gourmet? He introduces himself like this: “I love food and talking about everything that revolves around it“. Ok but the doubts remain, even though we should now be used to the bizarre choices of the channel – between nuns, priests and rosaries.
