Local public transport dispute, in Latina the council that should have defined the regional contribution and resolved the CSC dispute fails
“Today, with the scheduled municipal council, there should have been a positive epilogue to the long work done by the municipal technicians, the documents for the definition of the regional contribution and the dispute with the CSC company which manages the transport and to which it is the service contract expired. Instead, we learn, with regret and anger, that the councilors did not show up this morning, putting at risk, with their attitude, the continuity of the city’s public transport”.
The secretary of Faisa Cisal Renzo Coppini wrote it in a note. Last May, it was the same union that occupied the room of the Latina municipal council in protest and waiting for the Celentano administration to ratify the regional financing of around 1.8 million euros.
“The regional contribution has been paid. The municipality’s transport system had to be reorganized. We have four or five minutes signed, even before the prefect of Latina, in which the administration makes a commitment to resolve this problem. The solution – explained Coppini a month and a half ago – is to provide this contribution to the company CSC which in turn could have reorganized shifts, journeys and meal vouchers for employees. But they promise this thing every year and nothing ever happens.
We have already postponed a strike because there was a new commitment to finding a solution. Workers have not received food stamps since January, but this allowance represents only part of the economic coverage. In fact, the performance bonus has never been paid, i.e. the Municipality does not provide the funds to the CSC”.
“The superficiality with which the councilors and some councilors have addressed this problem – says Coppini today – is scandalous. 60 families abandoned to themselves, an offensive behavior for the workers who, despite the reduced salaries and the exhausting shifts, had placed their trust in the administration, interrupting the permanent assembly and the occupation of the council chamber more than a month ago”. In fact, the day following the occupation, following a meeting between the Mayor, Councilor, General Director, municipal managers and top management of the CSC Company, it looked like there was white smoke. The ball was passed to the Celentano administration who, however, today, June 26, missed the appointment again to resolve the problem.
This trust – concludes Coppini – has been poorly repaid by a short-sighted and careless policy. The exasperation of the workers has reached the point of no return, on July 1st it is not known how the service will be carried out, given that the funds allocated for more than two years, for the umpteenth time, are kept in the coffers. Someone has to pay for this latest delay, certainly not the workers.”
