The challenge of the queen of Livorno rowing competitions will start at 6pm: the Maritime Palio. After the extraction of the buoys yesterday, today Saturday 29 June, starting at 6 pm, the regatta field set up in front of the Terrazza Mascagni the gozzi will take to the water for the 86th edition. The race will close as usual the rowing season, which began with the Trofeo Liberazione and continued with Coppa Santa Giulia, Coppa Barontini and Coppa Risi’atori. Borgo triumphed in all of them, with the exception of the so-called Maratona del mare which saw Venezia cross the finish line first. A success, the latest in chronological order, which relaunches the ambitions of Cavallino on the eve of the most important challenge between the gozzi, the Palio Marinaro. The fight between the favorites, Borgo Cappuccini and Venezia, will however be at a distance, considering that they will start respectively from lane 7 and 2, with the outsider Ardenza La Rosa at buoy 8.

As usual and always live, as well as on the giant screen, the images of the Palio will be broadcast, starting from 5.50 pm, on Granducato TV and in streaming on the social channels of Visit Livorno (embed (LivornoToday)Gare Remiere Livorno, Fondazione Lem and Comune di Livorno. As is known, the competition coincides with the match for access to the quarter-finals of the European Championship between Switzerland and Italy. For this reason, in addition to the first giant screen that will broadcast the drone and ground footage of the rowing race and which will be placed in the area behind the Aquarium, a second one has been planned that will broadcast the National team match live and will be placed in the southern area of the Terrazza Mascagni, close to the parapet facing Bagni Pancaldi. The distance between the two LED walls will prevent any mutual disturbance.
The program of the challenges for Saturday 29 June
The program includes the departure of the four women’s boats at 6pm, at 6.45pm the junior gozzi, at 7.15pm the challenge of the three 10-oared women’s boats and at 7.45pm, at the end of the event, the ten-oared men’s boats will take to the water and compete on a course of two thousand meters with three turning points. Two giant screens are planned on which the matches of the Palio Marinaro and that of the national football team, involved in the round of 16 of the European championships against Switzerland, will be broadcast simultaneously.
