The Golden Pegasus at the Lucca Comics & Games event

The highest recognition from the Tuscany Region to the most important event in the city of Lucca, Lucca Comics and Games.

The Golden Pegasus It was delivered yesterday morning (June 28) by the President Eugenio Giani a Emanuele Vietinageneral director of the event during a ceremony attended by the regional councilor (a true Lucca native) Stephen Baccellithe chief of staff of President Eugenio Giani, Cristina Manettithe mayor of Lucca Mario Pardinie the president of Lucca Crea, the company owned by the Municipality of Lucca Nicholas Lucchesi.

“Lucca Comics&Games is the manifestation of contemporary artistic and cultural expression that has given the most satisfaction to Tuscany – he said President Eugenio Giani – The most important Italian event in the sector, first in Europe and second in the world after Comiket in Tokyo, last year sold 320 thousand tickets and saw the presence of over 700 thousand people between Lucca and the territory that goes from Montecatini to Versilia. It therefore represents a source of pride for Tuscany because it has made Lucca a city that has also been able to reinterpret its artistic beauties, attracting thousands of tourists and enthusiasts of the sector. Our Golden Pegasus goes to the merit of this event and for what it has been able to create: culture, art, tourism, job opportunities especially for young people, renewing the image of Tuscany over the years”.

“The Pegasus at Comics – he said the councilor Stefano Baccelli – it is an honor and recognition of a very far-sighted choice made by Mayor Martinelli in 1966. Let’s think about what it might have meant 60 years ago to imagine Lucca as a city of comics. I am among those who grew up with comics, there are many memories that link me to comics in my city: the ‘balloon’ in Piazza Grande, the exhibitions in the sorties. Back then it was an innovative cultural project resulting from an extraordinary vision. Today Comics have grown to become, I believe, the Italian and European event with the greatest participation of young enthusiasts, a colorful army that peacefully occupies Lucca every year. A deserved award of which Tuscany is proud.”

“This is another stage in a fantastic story – said the director Emanuele Vietina – made by hundreds of people who have followed one another in sixty years of history. This recognition goes to all of them. A community, which lives and has lived collectively, happily flapping its colorful wings.”

The event Lucca Comics and Gameswhose 2024 edition will take place from 30 October to 3 November, was presented in recent days, with the first novelties, at Odeon Giunti bookshop in Florence. The poster (or rather, the three posters) are the work of the Japanese Yoshitaka Amano. There are many anniversaries to celebrate: in particular the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons30 years of the game Tetrisi 20 dell’area Music & Cosplay whose birthday will be celebrated on November 2nd at 9pm with a maxi concerto with all the protagonists of the cartoon theme songs, starting from the star of the sector, Cristina D’Avena.
