They are two Palermo men aged 46 and 38, MB and GM, who now have to answer for abandonment and animal abuse. The discovery was made by the agents of the San Lorenzo police station, after a report regarding a house in via Castelforte from which a strong smell of rotting flesh was coming.

DOGS LOCKED IN CAGES AND AMONG EXCREMENTSThe firefighters intervened on site and forced access to the premises. Once inside, the police officers found themselves faced with small and medium-sized dogs locked in small cages and in conditions that the police headquarters defines as “oppressive”. In total, 27 dogs, three of which were just two weeks old, living among excrement and in worrying hygienic-sanitary conditions: many were without microchips.DOGS ENTRUSTED TO VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATIONSThe two reported, a husband and wife, said they were the owners of the dogs and that they had left for work reasons. The dogs, after receiving the necessary care and microchipping, were entrusted to some volunteer associations. Investigations are still ongoing to establish the origin of the animals and their destination.
