Sanremo. Forza Italia debacle in Sanremo, the times in which the People of Freedom dominated the local scene have come to an end. The official document establishing the composition of the new Sanremo city council was published today by the Imperia court, in light of the results of the recent local elections. The proclamation led to a significant surprise: Forza Italia no longer obtains direct election to the council of the candidate Patrizia Badino. The outgoing councilor could be reinstated if Gianni Rolando’s resignation, announced immediately after his defeat in the run-off, is confirmed.

With the victory of the civic candidate Alessandro Magerthe new majority will be made up of seven councilors from the Anima list, including Alessandro Sindoni, Ester Moscato, Enza Dedali, Giovanni Mascelli, Mauro Menozzi, Antonio Cavallero and Luca Marvaldi. The Sanremo al Centro list will have three seats occupied by Alexander the Great, Adriana Cutellè and Silvana Ormea. The Idea list will see Giovanni Bestagno, Massimo Donzella and Alessandra Pavone as representatives. Finally, two seats are awarded to the Forum list, with Giuseppe Sbezzo Malfei and Luigi Marino.

In opposition to Mayor Mager the following were elected: Gianni Rolando And Fulvio Fellegara as mayoral candidates of the centre-right and centre-left respectively. The group of Brothers of Italy will have two representatives, Luca Lombardi and Antonino Consiglio. The Sanremo Tomorrow list will be represented by Marco Damiano And Monica Rodà (who enters administration in place of Forza Italia’s Badino), while the list Andiamo! will be represented by Massimo Rossano and the League gives Daniele Ventimiglia. In addition to Fellegara, there is the centre-left Vittorio Toesca.

Today’s big and significant political news is the loss of the seat of Forza Italia which had already suffered from the failure to elect the secretary and former group leader Baggioli. Like Forza Italia, the Democratic Party is also outside the council but should obtain recognition from the council following the agreement reached in the run-off between Mager and Fellegara.
