The sprint race of the Dutch GP for Marc Marquez ended on the second lap with a retirement. The rider number 93 of the Gresini team slipped after a ride on the kerb at turn 2 that caused the front to close. The Spanish rider spoke about the difficulties of the weekend so far and the premises for tomorrow’s race.
Marc Marquez: “I have to be careful tomorrow not to hit that kerb again”
A sprint race that ended after a few kilometers for Marc Marquez in the Dutch GP, who saw his sprint race slip away without the possibility of collecting points after the fall on the second lap. The Spanish rider was “betrayed” by the inside kerb of turn 2 that made him lose control of the bike before ending up on the ground, with his attempt to get the bike up again being useless. Marquez spoke to Sky Sport MotoGP about the sprint race that just ended and the race in sight for tomorrow, highlighting Francesco Bagnaia’s performance and the uncertainty regarding the temperatures.
“It was a serious mistake on my part. Already on the first lap I went over the curb, but on the second lap behind the group I lost my bearings, I crossed the curb again, the bike behind jumped and there was a pothole. I have to be careful tomorrow not to hit that curb again. This weekend there is Pecco who is a step or two ahead of everyone, then Martin and Vinales, I think we can fight for the top 5, no more, the pace is there but it is not constant. I have to work a little more to understand how to go a little better, but as we saw in the sprint race many riders are strong, making a top 5 would be nice. The crash in the sprint took away some information from me but luckily there are many Ducatis on the track and we will try to understand. We need to understand the temperature, whether it will be cloudy or not.” – Marc Marquez
