Matera, in turmoil inside and outside the pathological addictions service (Serd), creating havoc with a bar and knife, 42-year-old arrested

An iron bar as a weapon to scare the Serd staff in an attempt to get what he was looking for, an additional dose of methadone, and a kitchen knife towards those who were in the facility. This is what a 42-year-old man from Matera was the protagonist of, arrested by the Police in flagrante delicto.
This is a criminal accused of attempted extortion, violence or threats to a public official, aggravated damage and unjustified possession of a bladed weapon.
Specifically, it was a kitchen knife, with a blade of approximately 15 cm.

The facts date back to the morning of June 20, when the medical staff on duty at the local Ser.D. (Pathological Addiction Service of the Local Health Authority) reported the emergency to 113. A man was going berserk, threatening to kill them and destroy the furniture with an iron bar. The aim was to obtain an additional dose of methadone (a synthetic opioid used in medical therapies to reduce addiction to narcotics).
In the meantime, after the security personnel had managed, with great difficulty, to get him out, the man had taken a large kitchen knife out of his shoulder bag, which he first pointed at those present and then used to damage a car parked there.

MATERA THREATS WITH BAR AND KNIFE, THE SEARCHES AND THE ARREST

When several crews from the Flying Squad and Flying Squad arrived on the scene, the man had already walked away.
The escape, however, did not last long, as he was identified a short distance away, thanks to numerous reports from citizens who had noticed him running, brandishing the weapon. When he was stopped near the John Paul II park, he had already disposed of the knife, throwing it into a rubbish bin. But this was not enough, as he did not escape the search carried out by the police officers.

Thus, the man was declared under arrest and, on the orders of the Public Prosecutor on duty, taken to the local prison, awaiting the validation judgement. Subsequently, the GIP, after having validated the arrest, confirmed the precautionary custody in prison.
