Italian rider Pecco Bagnaia triumphs in the Assen GP in Holland, MotoGP class, and closes the gap on Jorge Martin, who remains in the lead of the world standings (200 points against 190). Lowest step of the podium for Enea Bastianini. Fourth place for Marc Marquez, fifth Maverick Viñales and sixth an excellent Fabio Di Giannantonio. Marco Bezzecchi falls and retires. In Moto2 Ai Ogura wins, in Moto3 Iván Ortolá wins (THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MOTOGP).
The pre-race
Martin settled in fifth place because he was penalized with three positions on the grid for having hindered Fernandez in qualifying. Lorenzo Savadori instead forfeited, protagonist of a bad fall in the Sprint: the Aprilia tester, in Assen thanks to a wild cardsuffered “multiple fractures of the transverse processes of the lumbar spine” and was declared “unfit”. An annoying injury also for Espargaró, who should have started fourth: the Catalan rider felt too much pain in his right hand. Yesterday, in the Sprint, he broke his fifth metacarpal in a fall.

The race
Bagnaia, winner of the Sprint, starts from pole position ahead of Viñales and Alex Marquez. Second row with Di Giannantonio, Martin (penalized three positions) and Marc Marquez. Pecco starts well, as does Jorge who immediately moves into second position. Rins falls at the first corner and is forced to retire; the same fate later for Bezzecchi and Mir. In the first laps both Bagnaia and Martin maintain impressive paces, with an excellent Di Giannantonio behind them, tailed by Marc Marquez (who then overtakes him). Great battle for third place, with overtaking and counter-overtaking including Enea Bastianini, who takes the lowest step of the podium. Martin can instead settle for second place, while Bagnaia signs the hat-trick at Assen after the successes of 2022 and 2023.
