The XXVIII edition of the Palio dei Borgia goes to the red and white district.
Yesterday afternoon at the Martiri delle Foibe park, the last and highly anticipated challenge between the four districts of the town of Santa Maria, Santa Croce, San Biagio and La Rocca to win the 2024 banner.
A great and exciting show with the jockeys riding the horses kept the public in suspense until the last race with the eight pairs taking to the track.
Nepi – Palio dei Borgia – The San Biagio district wins the 2024 edition
The rider Alberto Liverani riding Etoile, competing for San Biagio, obtained 560 points and was also the best jockey of the tournament. Liverani’s performance, combined with the points achieved by his partner Jonathan Anselmicchio of Amelia riding in Central Park, allowed the contrada led by Fabio Bonaposta to obtain 443 points, added to the 336 achieved by the archers, for a total of 779 points.

In second place was the Santa Croce contrada with 770 (in the joust defended by Alessio Bruzzichesi and Diego Maiucci). In third place, the Santa Maria contrada with 757 points (with the knight Giordano Riganelli and the horsewoman Camilla Mugnaini) and lastly La Rocca with 752 points (with the knights Guido Gentili and Cristian Carloni).
Nepi – Palio dei Borgia – The San Biagio Contrada Wins the 2024 Edition
This year, San Biagio came out on top by triumphing over the other opposing districts in the various challenges, also winning the prize in the musicians’ competition. This brings the number of banners won by the red and white district to 9.
This afternoon the historical procession with over 150 participants will depart from Piazza del Comune to return to Rocca dei Borgia. Following this, the delivery of the banner to the priors of the winning contrada and the start of the great party that will conclude the traditional event.
