Fatal accident, councilor Annalisa Muzio on trial for road homicide

The urban planning councilor of the Municipality of Latina Annalisa Muzio has been sent to trial for road homicide. The accident at issue in the criminal proceedings dates back to September 14, 2021 when Muzio – at the time a candidate for mayor of the Pontine capital – driving her car had hit the 75-year-old retired teacher Giorgio Pedaci who was crossing the street in via Capograssa in front of the Park Hotel. The man had fallen and hit his head: rescued and transported to Goretti, he had never regained consciousness and had died a month later due to the head trauma suffered.

Today the judge for the preliminary hearing of the Court of Latina Giuseppe Cario, accepting the request of the prosecutor, sent Annalisa Muzio to trial for road homicide. The prosecution has however recognized that the victim was crossing without using the pedestrian crossing that was less than 100 meters away. “We await with serenity and great confidence – underlines the lawyer Renato Archidiacono who assists Annalisa Muzio – the trial during which we will demonstrate the total lack of responsibility of my client”

In the trial, which will begin on April 10, 2025 before a single judge, ten people have joined the civil action: the professor’s partner, a cousin, and eight other family members.
