The fourth stage of the Tour de France is scheduled for today, Tuesday 2 July. After the first three stages in Italy, the race arrives in France in a very hard Alpine stage, the first real mountain stage of this Grande Boucle starting from Pinerolo and arrival in Valloire: 139.6 kilometers with 3,600 meters of altitude difference (departure at 1.15 pm).
Sestriere, Monginevro and Galibier on the menu
Shortly after the start, we will begin to climb towards the Sestrierea long second category Mountain Grand Prix that will take you to over two thousand metres of altitude (39.9 kilometres at 3.7%). At the end of a descent you will arrive in Cesana Torinese and then go back up towards the Montgenèvrecrossing the border into France (8.3 kilometres at 5.9%). Here the riders will enter the Hautes-Alpes region, passing through Briançon and there will not be much space to catch your breath towards the Col du Galibierat 2,642 meters above sea level (23 kilometers at 5.1%). The summit will be 19 kilometers from the finish. Then it’s all downhill towards the finish line in Valloire.
