The first responses are in from the teams that played the round of 16 of Euro2024 yesterday, between Italy’s disappointment and Germany’s confirmation.
Italy at home (rightly)
Switzerland sends Spalletti’s Italy home with a clear 2-0, the Azzurri’s Euro 2024 adventure ends in the round of 16: goals from Freuler and Vargas decide, one in each half. Another ninety minutes entirely on the bench for the Rossoneri’s Noah Okafor, once again unused by the Swiss coach Yakin.
Germany wins against Denmark: Havertz and Musiala
Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany beat Denmark 2-0 and thus secured a place in the quarter-finals. Despite some difficulties in the first half, with the Danes scoring through Andersen but disallowed for offside, the Germans were able to manage their pace and intensity. The two goals, first scored by Kai Havertz from a penalty and then by Jamal Musiala both in the second half, sealed the victory for Germany, who are increasingly likely to win the competition. The Germans’ opponent will be the winner between Spain and Georgia.
