Gas leak in Rome. Several patrols of the XIV Montemario Group of the Local Police of Rome Capital intervened in Via della Stazione di Ottavia due to a gas leak.
This was reported by the local police. For safety reasons, the officers closed via Casal del Marmo, between via Trionfale and via della Stazione di Ottavia, and via Trionfale, between via Casal del Marmo and via Ipogeo degli Ottavi in both directions.
The Ottavia railway station is currently closed. Firefighters’ intervention is underway. To allow the intervention, some families from the adjacent buildings were temporarily evacuated.

Dozens of displaced people
The evacuees were temporarily welcomed in the parish of Santi Ottavio e Compagni Martiri, a short distance from the station. “The civil protection asked us if they had a space available to accommodate the people, we put the chairs and opened the bathrooms”, explain the parish priest Riccardo and the deputy Suavomir. “They also asked us if we had rooms for the evacuees to sleep, but we only have a small one: it is not enough, so they decided to contact the gyms of the middle schools in the area, Besso and Bertolotti”. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Rome has assured that the procedures for housing assistance are ready to be activated for those who request it.
