In Gambettola, a crash at the traffic lights of the Kennedy-Roma intersection between a truck and a scooter: Giuliano Antonelli, 69, retired truck driver, resident in Bulgarnò di Cesena, married to Loretta, two children, Matteo and Luca, loses his life.
Yesterday morning, just before 10, the residents who live near the intersection between Kennedy and Roma streets, regulated by a traffic light system, which is just 200 meters from the town hall, heard the sound of a crash between vehicles, immediately they ran and the scene that appeared before them was that of a man on the pavement losing a lot of blood.
118 medical assistance was immediately requested but when the doctors arrived on site they immediately realized that the man was no longer showing signs of life, so the ambulance left shortly after just as it had arrived, without being able to do nothing. The poor man’s body was then covered with a white sheet and left in the same place where he ended up after the collision.
The one who lost his life was Giuliano Antonelli, 69 years old, resident in Bulgarnò di Cesena, who was traveling on his scooter. In addition to the scooter, the other vehicle involved in the accident was a truck from a small local company that transported firewood.
The dynamics are being examined by the Carabinieri who intervened on the spot with some patrols and with the commander of the local station, Lieutenant Gian Luigi Pessina. From the first surveys it was evident that one of the two vehicles involved did not respect the red light signal.
The man’s scooter remained stuck in the front part of the lorry which then stopped a few meters later after the collision on the same Via Kennedy, while the poor man’s body ended up on the nearby pavement.
After the investigations, the vehicles involved in the accident were removed and seized and the Valdinoci funeral service of Gambettola intervened to transport the body to the mortuary.
Giuliano Antonelli was very well known in Bulgarnò and also in Gambettola where his brother-in-law Attilio Magnani lives.
He himself remembers him like this: “You were a special brother-in-law Giuliano, always calm and calm, good-natured.
That terrible accident took you away from my sister Loretta, from your sons Matteo and Luca, from your nieces and from all of us. We will miss you dearly.”
We are talking about a truly cursed stretch of road. It should be remembered that at the same intersection in Gambettola between via Kennedy and via Roma there have been two other fatal accidents in recent years.
In December 1997, when there was no traffic light yet, Tarcisio Andreoli lost his life, and in March 2012 with the traffic light active, Saverio Forlivesi died when he was hit by a heavy vehicle.
