PORTO SAN GIORGIO Lungomare, new furnishings installed. These are the last details that are not just details, because from now on they will also guarantee the functionality of the stretch and at the same time the reception of tourists. The horizontal signage still needs to be done, which will perhaps be done soon. For the speed bumps and raised pedestrian crossings, however, we will have to wait until October since the work will require closing the stretch again and prohibiting it from vehicles for several days.

The benches and seats arrived last week and have already been positioned along the new path, along with the new fountain that certainly could not be missing, given the tourist presence already present and those arriving in the next few days but also the countless passages of bikers who travel the stretch more and more often in the direction of the new cycle/pedestrian bridge. The new portals that will act as entrances to each beach establishment, which until now had only been seen in the project, will also give a sort of additional identifying characteristic to the city.

The operations

Yesterday they started assembling the portals. Some benches have a shelter above them, which should be useful for providing shade. Bike racks are also being installed, and bins for garbage and dog waste have already arrived. Both Mayor Valerio Vesprini, who holds the Public Works delegation, and Deputy Mayor Fabio Senzacqua agreed in reiterating that the work must be considered in its entirety and that for now, what has been completed and is being perfected with the details, is only a stretch of the waterfront. We will be able to talk about the work being finished only when the second stretch, which will end near the Canossiane, is also completed.

That second phase of work will restart after the summer. The stretch has been reopened, in agreement with the beach operators, to avoid compromising the season. The project was carried out thanks to a 4 million Pnrr funding. As is known, the project can be implemented in three years, from 2024, 2025 and 2026. To the south, the parking lots will be herringbone for this season but despite this, during the weekends, the parking spaces are already sold out. It is worrying that for this season there does not seem to be any hope for the reopening of the additional parking lots to the south, owned by the Marina company. The parking gap is paired with the private area to the north that has not yet been made available for public parking. To the north a tractor has cleaned up the area but it is not known whether the intervention can be attributed to reaching an agreement between the private and the Municipality.
