bartender steals 150 euros from the cash register every day

It was an unwritten receipt that unmasked a bartender, reported by the owners of the place where she worked, accused of having stolen around 300 thousand euros from takings. The story, which led to the conclusion of the investigations, concerns a well-known restaurant in San Donà di Piave, in the Venetian area, and dates back to last year. The owners had taken over the restaurant in 2021, investing significantly to relaunch it after the pandemic. However, although the bar was always crowded, the takings did not take off. The trusted barmaid, now accused of aggravated theft, was caught red-handed by the police while she was working.

Systematic theft from the cash register
According to the bar owners, the barmaid stole at least 150 euros from the cash register every day. The decisive proof was obtained from the police, who photocopied some banknotes and gave them to trusted customers to spend in the restaurant. Just five minutes into the barmaid’s shift, the police entered and searched her, finding around 50 euros stolen from the till on her.

The investigations starting from the receipt
The owners of the bar struggled to understand the cause of the drop in takings, considering the barmaid a person of extreme trust and not suspecting her in the slightest. Various attempts to rebalance the accounts proved futile, and the deficit increased. The first alarm signal went off when the Financial Police fined the barmaid for not having issued a receipt. This episode pushed the owners to investigate further, revealing that not recording receipts was a common practice, thus facilitating the removal of money from the cash register. At that point, the owners turned to the police, who collected evidence against the former employee.

After the complaint and the replacement of the barmaid, the takings began to rise again, as reported by Il Messaggero. Now we await a possible indictment for the former bartender in criminal proceedings, accompanied by a request for compensation for moral and material damages.

OPEN reports it.
