Also this summer the Lega del Filo d’Oro, the philanthropic foundation which constitutes a point of reference for deafblind and psychosensory impaired people in Italy, organized summer stays and, as usual, provided numerous leisure activities, with guided tours, games, swimming in the sea and walks in the mountains. This year the stays will last 8 weeks and will be held in the Marche and Trentino.

Since its establishment in 1964, summer stays have been understood by the Lega del Filo d’Oro as a precious opportunity to meet, get to know each other and socialize. An approach that still remains today. In fact, the informal context proves to be particularly suitable for allowing people with disabilities to experience autonomy and overcome the barriers that they may encounter outside their comfort zone, and for families to have moments of detachment from care work.
This year the stays will last for 8 weeks and they will be held in the Marche and Trentino. Every week 15 deafblind people they will have the opportunity to participate in the activities thanks to the constant assistance, accompaniment and communication support of volunteers and qualified staff.
«Summer stays represent one of the most anticipated events – he declared Rossano Bartoli, president of the Foundation at the «Ancona Today» newspaper – because they allow deafblind and psychosensory impaired people to experiment with different activities and acquire greater autonomy. Furthermore, they promote precious moments to socialize and make new friends with people who live in distant places, who they would hardly have the opportunity to meet. Special thanks go to our volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible.” Volunteers are a fundamental component of the Lega del Filo d’Oro. The ratio of one to one between volunteers and people with disabilities allows the latter to have constant assistance and accompaniment.
This is therefore the program of stays for summer 2024: in Marche, three weeks’ stay from 9th to 16th June, from 23rd to 30th June and from 30th June to 7th July at the Domus Holiday Center in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP). Followed by another three weeks at the Bolivar hotel in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP), from 13 to 20 July, from 20 to 27 July and from 27 July to 3 August. In Trentinotwo weeks’ stay from 25 August to 1 September and from 1 to 8 September in a mountain resort at the Active Hotel Rosat in Predazzo (TN). (Simona Lancioni)
