Rai Libri: “Oro Rosa” by Marco Lollobrigida is released

Rome, 26 June. (askanews) – Rai Libri presents “Oro Rosa. The women who brought Italy to the top of the Olympic podium”, by Marco Lollobrigida.

From Ondina Valla, the first Italian to win the gold medal at the 1936 Olympic Games, when she excelled in the 80 meter hurdles in Berlin, to the sailor Caterina Banti, an extraordinary protagonist in Tokyo at the last Olympics in the Mixed Catamaran. Twenty-two stories of sport and life, those told by Marco Lollobrigida in “Oro Rosa”, an almost hundred-year long journey that passes through the successes and emotions of champions of the caliber of the blue dragonfly Sara Simeoni, who conquered Moscow in 1980, by Gabriella Dorio, who made Los Angeles dream only four years later, by Federica Pellegrini, absolute queen in Beijing in 2008.

Chapter after chapter, there are portraits of women who have made Italian sport and Italy great: Antonella Bellutti, Paola Pezzo, Josefa Idem, Alessandra Sensini, Valentina Vezzali, Elisa Di Francisca, Antonella Palmisano and many others. The book tells the story of the evolution of the female figure in the history of the Olympics, between dreams and sacrifices, sporting goals and important life choices. The preface was signed by Coni President Giovanni Malagò.

“Oro Rosa” by Marco Lollobrigida, published by Rai Libri, is on sale in bookshops and digital stores from 26 June.

Marco Lollobrigida. Born in Rome in 1971, he began working for the regional broadcaster Rete Oro at the age of twenty-one, arriving at Rai in 2001. As a presenter and commentator, he followed 5 Olympics, 4 World Football Championships, 3 European Football Championships and for four years he hosted “Champions of the World” on Radio 2, a program dedicated to football and Olympic sports. He was responsible for hosting historic programs such as “La Domenica Sportiva” and “90th minute”. He has won numerous awards, including the Beppe Viola Sports Culture Award (2017), the Nicolò Carosio Journalism Award (2021), the Federico II Award for communication and sports journalism (2023) and the Pratola National Award (2024). Contract lecturer of Sport and Media at Link University. He is currently deputy director of Rai Sport.
