29.06.2024 – 07.30 – The Municipality of Monfalcone protagonist of training courseorganized by the Region and dedicated to local police officers coming from all over the region, focused on the complex issues ofroad haulage.
The main objective of the initiative is to increase the number of agents authorized to carry out specialized checks in this sector, which is crucial for road safety and the regularity of trade.
“The activity of the local police of Monfalcone in the field of road transport continues incessantly – notes the mayor, Anna Maria Cisint – with the aim of ensuring road safety, regularity of transport and fair competition between businesses.
For these reasons, over the years, checks by our Command have been implemented, specifically training personnel for more specific checks; personnel who are currently also employed to train agents from all over the region. A collaboration that allows sharing technical skills so that this specific type of checks can be carried out effectively also in other territorial realities.
The course held by our specialized agents, who therefore shared their skills with their colleagues, represents a significant step towards greater professionalisation of staff throughout the region and guarantees more effective and widespread supervision in a sector which, especially in areas of border like ours is particularly delicate.”
During the course, the agents participated in theoretical lessons in the classroom held by the Monfalcone Command personnel, followed by practical exercises on the road. A methodology that allowed operators to immediately put the knowledge acquired into practice, dealing with real situations and perfecting their operational skills.
In recent days, 18 agents from different locationscoordinated by the agents of the Municipality of Monfalcone, have in fact participated in the road checks of the trucks which took place in the city, carrying out checks on 35 trucksof which 29 were registered abroad, contesting 28 violations regarding the methods of loading goods, the driving and rest times of drivers and the management of the digital tachograph.
The fines imposed amount to a total of 9,000 euros.
The most serious violation detected concerns cabotage; a driver of a vehicle registered abroad was in fact identified while carrying out a transport in violation of European competition protection legislation, which requires foreign drivers to leave Italy before carrying out national transport. This infringement resulted in a fine of 5,000 euros and the administrative detention of the vehicle for three months.
