“I played in a great Lazio, a beautiful team.
We were a really united group and in fact we are all still together. Then the fans were fantastic, as was president Cragnotti and the whole environment.
It was wonderful to play with Gascoigne because for me he was a phenomenon and I have wonderful memories of him. I’m sorry he had some problems later.
For me, Zoff was a great person and a great coach and I’m happy to have worked with him for two years.
With Zeman I certainly played more offensively, but the biggest difference is that during the season with Zoff you remained more or less at the same physical level, with Zeman you started off like a rocket, but after 6 months you started to decline and had some problems.
I was sad to see Italy eliminated in the European Championship because I have wonderful memories. There are no champions like Baggio or Del Piero, there is no more imagination. This is not a good sign for football in Italy. It seems absurd to me that there wasn’t even a Milan player called up to the Azzurri national team.
Once upon a time, only the very strong foreigners who came to Serie A were the ones who were the best, now the situation is different.
