CATANIA – “My life is over now, if you’re not mine you won’t belong to anyone. If you are not mine, it is better that you die. I am sick and before I go I will take someone with me”: these are some of the death threats made by a 59-year-old man from Catania to his ex-partner and mother of their minor daughters who has been investigated for stalking.
The investigating judge against him, at the request of the Catania District Attorney’s Officehas ordered the precautionary measure of prohibition to approach the places usually frequented by the woman, with the obligation to use an electronic bracelet, with the prescription to maintain a distance of no less than 500 meters both from the places and from the victim.
The provision was notified by the Carabinieri of the Etna provincial command who investigated the case, coordinated by the pool of magistrates qualified in crimes concerning gender violence.
The violence
The investigations were started after the woman’s complaint who had decided to interrupt the romantic relationship with the suspect, which lasted over 18 years, during which the birth of his daughters occurred. The victim was allegedly subjected to violence even in the presence of her minor daughters and on the street, with the woman insulted and pulled by her hair.
The man also allegedly sent messages to the phone of one of his daughters, threatening her mother, announcing that she would wait for her outside the house and that she would “throw the car at her and do crazy things”. One of her girls was beaten by her father because she intervened in defense of her mother.
