The first intercultural evening within the initiative “ARTE – Accoglienza, relazioni, tradizioni, emozioni” of the Messina association The Rising Stars has attracted a lot of attention. The Ukrainian community that resides in Messina animated the first meeting in Piazza Duomo by showing its traditions and cultures to the city of Messina and the people of Messina. The next meeting will be held on July 4th, at 9pm, at Zio Angelo (Largo Seggiola), but will be organized by the Romanian community.

Dances, typical dishes, customs and traditions: this is the intangible heritage that the Ukrainian community presented during the evening (open to all), in the presence also of the other communities who will take part in the initiative and who will organize the next intercultural evenings. In addition to the Ukrainian and Romanian ones, in fact, The Rising Stars association also involved the Sri Lankan, Moroccan and Philippine ones. These are the largest foreign communities residing in the city of the Strait (according to Istat data). On Thursday 4 July the Romanian community will do the same, enlivening the evening (in which participation is free) with their culture.

The project, financed by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC 30), will also continue with a photography contest. Participation, also in this case, is free: just send a photo representing diversity and unity to [email protected] by July 3rd. During the Romanian evening, the winner will then be announced, who will win a 30 euro voucher to spend at Uncle Angelo.
