(AGENPARL) – Tue 25 June 2024 CAPORALATO, AIELLO (M5S): CALDERONE COME TO THE CHAMBER FOR URGENT INFORMATION
ROME, 27 JUNE 2024 – “After what happened last week in Latina, we ask that Minister Calderone come to this Chamber for urgent information”. This was said by the M5S deputy in the Labor Committee, Davide Aiello, speaking in the Chamber. “Satnam Singh was abandoned in front of his house with his arm next to him in a strawberry box by his employer, who instead of taking him to the emergency room decided to throw him on the pavement as if it were a broken piece of machinery and not a a human life to save. An ignoble, inhuman, criminal gesture. This death – he continued – is the result of a lack of humanity, of a criminal system that wants to have low-cost disposable labor available. Tragedies like this are unacceptable for a country that defines itself as civilized. We want the Bossi-Fini law to be overcome, we ask to know what happened to the Pnrr funds, 200 million euros, intended for the improvement of housing for foreign workers. We want greater controls by the police and Inail inspectors. We ask for more severe and certain sanctions against those who exploit low-cost labor without guaranteeing a regular contract and a decent wage. We ask once again to establish a National Labor Prosecutor’s Office that is specialized in dealing with cases of illnesses and accidents at work which increasingly turn into fatal events. Just wait for yet another tragedy to intervene. We have to do something now, there is no more time to waste” concluded Aiello.
