M5S, new blog post: Grillo attacks the ‘Others’

“Since I saw myself in Others I can no longer stand myself. Every Other shows me a me that is foreign and detestable to me. Thus I discovered the existence of another me, or rather of a hundred thousand very hateful and very bad other mes.” Thus begins the last one post by Beppe Grillo on his blog, dedicated to the attack of the ‘Others’.

“I tried – writes the five-star founder – to console myself by thinking that those who hate me must be equally hateful and bad. But then I remembered that I too have criticized many others: who am I to judge them? Especially if it is a very hateful and very bad me? My thoughts have become circular and entangled I interviewed myself, and I waited… To see in the Others the very hateful and very bad me that I had already seen a thousand other times. But who are the Others? People like me. So they too are very hateful and very bad? Oh no, this time I won’t fall for it: I want to think that they are wounded, fragile, tormented and needy people.”

“There is the Other – he adds – who has a family and cannot accept that what was unjustly given to him is rightly taken away from him. There is the Other who has won the election lottery and does not want to give way. There is the Other who says everything and the opposite of everything so as not to displease anyone, ending up displeasing everyone. There is the Other who is only good at criticizing Others. And so on. There is nothing wrong, let’s be clear, because we are all like that. This is why we must love Others as we love ourselves. After all, we are the most self-centered animals on the planet. It’s not our fault. Except that it is precisely from the awareness of what the Others are, and therefore what we are, that we should base our rules. We’re the crazy ones who actually triedto the point of calling for our end once the job is done.”

“Perhaps – concludes Grillo – there will come a day when institutions will not be infested by Others, when we will no longer rely on pipers and we will decide our own destiny, in which we will think about the future of the young and not the old. Maybe, but today is not this day.”
