Stefano Benaglia: “Everything in this damned world has a price”

Dear Diary, I would like to share with you a reflection on the cost of our dialogues. I talk about “costs” because every action has inevitable consequences. Because if it is true that many people read and share us, some inevitably dislike us. This antipathy combined with administrative power comes at a cost

I’ll get to the point.

Here in the northern suburbs of Rimini not all the hamlets are the same. We differ in size, in the number of citizens but above all in the treatment we receive from those who administer us.

It is clear that Torre Pedrera and Viserba receive preferential treatment in many aspects, whether it be the maintenance of the greenery, the restoration of the tiles, the Christmas lights, the water houses or the dog walking areas. Plus a few other political privileges that are not a matter of discussion today but sooner or later, cards in hand, we will address.

It is equally evident that the most “unlucky” of the coastal hamlets north of the Marecchia diverter is certainly Rivabella, which in addition to non-existent maintenance and a useless cycle path will soon see the only green area canceled to build 100 apartments and car parks to give away to the usual friends.

This should not surprise me because in the elections candidates are elected who are an expression of the territories and the territory of Viserbella has not elected any representatives. What seems strange, however, are the methods and total brazenness of the situations that have arisen in the last year, after the Pro Loco of Viserbella participated and legitimately won a municipal tender for the management of the Foglino car park. The sin was breaking a balance made of political promises between the high levels and since then in Viserbella all green maintenance has been reduced or suspended; the seafront tiles are replaced in Torre Pedrera and Viserba while Viserbella remains, in high season, with broken tiles and an irrigation system that is turned off or not working. Having entrusted the development of the seafront to Anthea allowed greater control by the rulers, accentuating the disparities in treatment.

However, it should be remembered that thanks to the collaboration of the Pro Loco it was possible to move the market to the Folino car park area and free Via Diredaua from the road block on Sunday morning. I remind you, Dear Diary, because I still have to read the thanks from the municipal councilors of Torre Pedrera.

This situation expresses the paucity of politics based on blackmail and not on planning, which has as its sole purpose the maintenance of personal consensus by eliminating any participation of citizens in public life. This is the reason why the new neighborhoods do not arrive and prefer to use Facebook and WhatsApp messages to announce small ordinary administration interventions and pass them off as a benevolent gift from the boss on duty. In a public discussion on an idea and a project they would be forced to discuss, while they are the first to act as spartans behind the scenes.

I am aware that everything in this damned world has a price but if they hope to buy silence with a bit of abandoned greenery and a few broken tiles, Dear Diary they will have to endure our dialogues for a while longer.

PS: the order came from a councilor himself to no longer publish posts about stolen bicycles on local groups. I believe this is not only very serious, but also the flaw of this mediocre and embarrassing policy.
