Part of the wall of Villa Sironi collapses. Last night’s storm caused significant damage to Today; It was above all the structure placed to protect the park of the municipal residence located on the border with Hanno that paid the price. The collapse affected the portion overlooking Via Roncaccio.
Immediately alerted, the municipal administration carried out an inspection in the presence of the police and civil protection, with the latter working incessantly to remove the debris; this morning the mayor Chiara Narciso intervened on site again to understand together with the technicians how to proceed.
”We covered the collapsed ground with a waterproof sheet to prevent the rains expected in the next few days from causing further disruption. Then we will move immediately for the arrangement” explained the administrator. In the meantime, however, the property in today’s area is off-limits: until the critical situation is resolved, Villa Sironi will hardly be able to act as a location for some of the events whose organization was in the so-called ”work in progress” phase by the Municipality and some associations of today, such as OGVN and Circolo Tenchio.
Furthermore, the failure triggered a political controversy, less than two weeks after the electoral outcome which handed over the leadership of the city to Insieme per Oggiono, but by only eight votes. This morning the minority councilor Debora Acerbi published an image on social media depicting the collapsed wall (accompanied by a ”good morning Oggionesi”), while others considered the event predictable given the shape that the structure had taken in recent times . An episode, the one recorded in the city, which recalls what happened a few years ago in Bulciago, at Villa Taverna to be precise.
Meanwhile, the Narciso administration today had to carry out a damage count. Beyond what happened at Villa Sironi, other disruptions have affected the area of Oggione following the storm on Friday evening. In Via per Imberido the concrete manhole broke and the water raised the asphalt, with the Municipality having to close the road in the hamlet temporarily while waiting to start the restoration works.
Added to this are further critical issues – mostly gravel and mud – on which civil protection was immediately activated: Via Dante (swimming pool area), Lazzaretto and Trescano to name a few examples.
