The idea was born a few years ago and found a perfect home within the walls of the Caldenave refugewhich rises at an altitude of 1,795 meters in the uncontaminated Lagorai.
It all started with a proposal of Guido Trevisan’s wifemanager of the structure at high altitude, who spoke with the owners of the “Athena” bookshop in Pergine thought of introducing the nice news: “After all, what’s more beautiful than taking refuge in the pages of a book in a refuge? – Trevisan points out, describing an initiative that has already achieved great success -. For 4 years now we therefore began to bring various volumes between to 1,800 mountain tales, guides and illustrated books“.
The will is to “stimulate hikers and mountaineers but also of offer an additional service – continues the refugee -. Here we are lucky – he returns to reiterate – because i phones don’t take and the hope is that the future will still be like this. This, because only in this way is it possible fully enjoy the beauty of the area and maybe even a good book (about mountains)”.
Between maps, informative volumes on flora and fauna And novels relating to the highlands, there is also one in the Caldenave library section dedicated to children: “For them we thought about books (also) on environmental sustainabilityto raise awareness among younger generations about issues of crucial importance“.
The project is enjoying great success, so much so that every season the managers return to the altitude with some new volumes to be proposed to patrons, giving the possibility of consulting them on site but also of buy some: “We really are happy – concludes Trevisan -.
