“The decline in the population of Piedmont, which went from 4.5 million at the end of the 1980s to 4.25 million at the end of 2023, is accelerating and does not tend to stop. If everyone born in 2023 lived for 82 years, while maintaining a constant average of two children per couple, the 25 thousand born last year would create a potential Piedmont of two million inhabitants, halved compared to today.
