After the reopening of the last few weeks – the bridge of Viale Roma was officially inaugurated. The mayor Matteo Gozzoli, the councilors Jacopo Agostini and Mauro Gasperini were present together with a representation of the majority city councilors and the city technicians of the public works sector. Also taking part in this moment were the representatives of the Pesaresi company that carried out the works and the engineer Maurizio Berlati, designer and director of works. “When the bridge was reopened we decided not to do the inauguration immediately because the city was waiting for this moment and we did not want to waste even five minutes of time after waiting for these months – said Gozzoli -. Now it is right to underline this work so important for Cesenatico that has improved in safety first and foremost and also in aesthetics. I thank all the city technicians and all the professionals who worked together to achieve the result, it is a great satisfaction to be here”.

The total amount of the investment was 1.4 million, 800 thousand euros covered by funds from the Pnrr, the rest instead paid by the Municipal Administration which has already arranged a loan. The consolidation intervention took place on the slab, on the cantilever beams and on the main beams. Following the structural interventions, the finishes were redone, in particular the road pavement and that of the sidewalks.
After the start of the works which included the regulation of traffic with an alternating one-way system, the decision was made to completely close it to vehicular traffic on 27 November. This change to the road system became necessary following the inspections carried out by the company carrying out the works together with the technicians who were dealing with the consolidation interventions on the bridge, which revealed a state of deterioration of the structures which denotes a significant deterioration of the building. This situation emerged only at the end of the water drying operations, which made more timely and in-depth checks possible. Also in recent months, that specific stretch of the Mazzarini Vena was drained through the use of sheet piles which allowed the work to proceed smoothly.
