A 35-year-old worker died instantly in Cividale, a hamlet of Rivarolo Mantovano, while working at the Sintostamp company. For the man, resident in Rivarolo, there was nothing that could be done. He was crushed between two rollers when the morning shift had just started just before 8am on Friday.
The dynamics were subjected to scrutiny by ATS Valpadana, Viadana headquarters, as per practice: the 35-year-old had, as mentioned, just started his shift. After the fatal accident, the company chose to immediately stop work and send all employees home, in shock at what happened, some before their eyes. The Viadana Fire Brigade, the Carabinieri, the Porto Emergenza ambulance from Bozzolo and a medical vehicle intervened at Sintostamp, but all were only able to confirm the death.
The Sintostamp company specializes in the production of polycarbonate sheets for various artisanal and industrial uses. The 35-year-old ended up in one of these machines made up of revolving rollers – for reasons currently under investigation.
A colleague from Cividale testifies to the pain and disbelief of all the workers, adding that he cannot explain such a tragedy. “Here we work in maximum safety and, apart from small and trivial accidents, nothing had ever happened. I was in another shed and I only realized what happened shortly afterwards. Despite immediate help for the poor colleague, there was nothing more that could be done.” The 35-year-old leaves behind his parents and a brother.
