Genoa. A map of the city of Genoa with all the points related to exploitation and social inequality disseminated, as opposed to places of power made up of “yachts, watches and corruption”. These are the words that echoed in Caricamento this afternoon, where around fifty activists and militants attached to the panels of the construction sites in the square is the large map of the city with the attached caption “on the places of social opposition”.
“After a month from the demonstration that we organized under the headquarters of the Region with the slogan “With one Toti, another is made” today we are once again in the streets to reiterate which is not the office, but a system of power, which pulls in the centre-right and centre-left, which for us must be entirely changed – he explains Marta Collot of Potere al Popolo, promoter of the initiative – The map represents the “Liguria system”, where we are precarious workers, students, pensioners, those who cannot make it to the end of the month, those who are exploited while on the other side the system of power, the various Totis and the various Signorini, who manage public good as if it were private“.
In fact, in the map, in addition to the various places of “we exploited” there are the icons of “their exploiters”, symbolized by the yacht, which recalls the set where the key interceptions were made to the investigation by the Genoa prosecutor’s office into corruption in Liguria.
The idea of the protesters is therefore to start from here, creating a social opposition “that starts from the places and territories of the city” and that can unite people”against an idea of public affairs made up of speculation, privatization, corruption and exploitation“.
