A 50-year-old woman, resident in Alfonsine, is in serious condition at the Bufalini hospital in Cesena. Yesterday morning, on the outskirts of Lugo, while riding a mountain bike along via del Pero with her husband, she collided with a Fiat Punto coming from the opposite direction. The car was driven by a 58-year-old woman, originally from Morocco and resident in Fusignano, with a compatriot sitting next to her, both of whom were unharmed. Following the impact, the 50-year-old was trapped under the car and dragged for about thirty meters, suffering serious injuries. Her husband was unharmed, but in shock. The accident occurred around 10:30. The pair of cyclists were riding along via del Pero, which had been closed for a long time, from via Sant’Andrea towards Lugo and then continued towards the Faenza hills to watch the Tour de France pass by. The Local Police Accident Unit of Bassa Romagna is working to determine the causes of the accident. The firefighters worked for a long time to free the cyclist from under the vehicle, using a jack to lift it. After receiving first aid, the cyclist was transferred to the Ravenna Soccorso helicopter, which took off with a maximum severity code. Yesterday, another serious accident was recorded on the roads of Bassa Romagna. At 2 pm, along the 16 Adriatica state road, two hundred meters from the Voltana junction, a 76-year-old man from Verona driving a Fiat Tipo, heading towards Ferrara, lost control of the vehicle, invading the opposite lane and ending up in the ditch on his left. On board were his wife and, in the back seat, the driver’s 86-year-old brother. The latter was the one who fared worst, transported by helicopter to the Ferrara hospital in Cona. Two ambulances and the Lugo firefighters also intervened on the scene. The others involved suffered moderate injuries.
