Sicily, today is the day of the first written test of the state exam

“Dear graduates, it is only the beginning of a great adventure. Give it your all and remember that you are much stronger than even you think. Good luck to everyone.” Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a short video posted this morning on social media on the day the final exams began.

The wait is over. For the over 46 thousand students of high schools, state technical and professional institutes (41,952) and private schools (4,340) in Sicily, today is the day of the first written test of the state exam, the Italian theme, the same for all courses of study. Six hours of time and one of three types of tracks to choose from. Last year there were 48,580 candidates, 2,288 more than this year. Of the almost 42 thousand state school graduates, Palermo is the province in which the largest number is concentrated with 9,948 (10,168 last year) students.

The tests started at 8.30. According to the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, “the tracks will be interesting and affordable. I believe that there will be no trauma or particular worries at the end of these papers.” The minister, speaking on ‘Non Stop News’ on RTL 102.5, invites the children “before writing”, to “reflect, use the draft to set out the reasoning and then express their feelings, above all trying to grasp the profound meaning of the traces”.

A text taken from Maurizio Caminito ‘Selfie profiles and blogs’ from 2014, invites graduates to reflect on the importance and meaning of the diary in the digital age. There is also Rita Levi Montalcini with ‘In Praise of Imperfection’ among the tracks of Maturita, according to what the Skuola.net portal reports.

Also the poem ‘Pellegrinaggio’ by Giuseppe Ungaretti is among the tracks proposed by the Ministry of Education and of merit to high school graduates. The track falls into Type A – Analysis and interpretation of a literary text. The poem is taken from the collection ‘L’allegria’ published in 1931.

The importance of the constitutional charter in a text by Maria Agostina Cabiddu was proposed to high school graduates as an outline for the 2024 state exam, according to what ANSA learns. In the text ‘the Intuition of the constituents’ is defined as ‘far-sighted’.
