Double, double, encore. First Atalanta, now the Boston Celtics. Steve Pagliuca will remember 2024 for a long time. After the triumph in the Europa League with the Nerazzurri, Tuesday 18 June the Atalanta co-chairman celebrates the victory of the Boston Celtics’ NBA ringdominators of the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. The decisive 106-88 in Boston in game 5 played during the Italian night which signed the definitive 4-1 in the series giving the Celtics the 18th title in the club’s history, one more than the historic rivals of the Los Angeles Lakers. «Atalanta and Boston are two special teams that always give everything to win», exulted happily Pagliuca, co-owner of the Celtics.
Boston ends the year as it began, dominating first the regular season, then the playoffs, ending with 16 games won and three lost. After the surprising knockout in game 4 the Celtics canceled Luka Doncic and the former Kyrie Irving, exalting the Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown duo. Tatum was the diamond of the Celtics season, Brown mvp both against Indiana and in the final against Dallas. Coach Joseph Mazzulla, 36, also smiles with Pagliuca, having gone from unknown assistant coach to head coach of the United States champion team.
